I'm gettin' some money for xmas, and was wondering about what to get as far as getting a starter acoustic guitar. I've only played guitar for 2 months and now I want my own. Where should I look and what things should I look for?

Well, the robotic answer to your question is:

    1) Get one with good tuners (machines that actually tune the guitar)
    2) Look for good, low action (how high the strings sit)
    3) Get a solid-top guitar (not a laminate top, like plywood)

    Also to consider:

    1) Cutaway or no (do you want to learn to solo, or wait for an electric?)
    2) Electronics? (will you want to plug in somewhere, sometime?)
    3) Size of body? (parlor, auditorium, dreadnaught, jumbo?)

Answer those three questions and we can help recommend certain makes and models. Also, a price range would be nice ($100-200, or $400-500?). Do you have a lot of guitar stores in your area? Any big ones, like Guitar Center, or even a big locally-owned place?

Here's a great web-site to get familiar with:
    http://www.musiciansfriend.com

They sell most of anything worth buying... Here's another important site:

    http://www.harmony-central.com
Their user reviews are priceless information, and they have a lot of cool articles and whatnot...

One more thing... get an electronic tuner and learn how to use it!

    Good luck!
...and if you don't like it, you can suck on an egg.

If you intend studying seriously how to play guitar on an acoustic guitar i would advise u to spend a little bit more money in order to get a decent one.I got tendonitis in both my elbows by studying on a low quality acoustic guitar...If you intend playing only chords etc then it's ok if u buy a cheap one...

    Taylor Big Baby.
My Girlfriend said to me..."How many guitars do you need?" and I replied...."How many pairs of shoes do you need?" She got really quiet.

I'd say for a guitar $300 and under, just get a straight up acoustic with no electronics in it... for that price they won't be good in the first place, and you don't need to plug in while you're just learning anyways...
