The family is flying with me to Florida. Can any locals recommend some things to do in West Palm Beach and Tampa? I definitely plan on doing the Yuengling tour while in tampa. :) So let me know what you got. Oh, we're going to Disney World Friday. Thanks!

  • WPB, I'd really just stick to the beaches. Anything more interesting is going to be south of that, but it also depends on the ages of your kids.
Tampa has Busch Gardens and some water parks. Plenty to do out there. And St Pete is beautiful.
Just keep in mind it's all going to be hot as balls!

If you want to do a short fishing trip, I'd suggest staying on Clearwater Beach. That's where a lot of the day trippers put out.

Plus, it's one of the top 10 beaches in the country (per Dr. Beach). Beautiful white sand.

And June is off-season, so rates are lower.

WPB: not much culturally speaking. just stick to the beaches during the day and if you want an after party you can go to Clematis St. However, there won't be too much going on since it's early/mid-week.

Tampa: Ybor is not what it used to be. besides, you can go there for aftershow fun if you want. as for tampa, there's the Lowry Park Zoo and the Florida Aquarium during the day. one spot NOT to miss during the day is the Dali Museum in St. Pete. worth it. also, check to see if there are any Tampa Bay Rays games during the day. it's only a few blocks from the Dali museum. there are also some other museums in tampa like a photograhers and holocaust museum and other art galleries if that's your thing.

  • In my opinion, I enjoy St. Petersburg/Clearwater way more than Tampa. All you have to do is cross one of many bridges west over Tampa Bay into St. Pete. It is only about 20 minutes away. The Dali museum is in St. Pete, not Tampa and it is worth it.

Tampa is dirty and Ybor City used to be a nice entertainment district, but now it is just completely worthless unless you are under 23 years old.

Having said that, the St. Pete Times Forum (in downtown Tampa) is in a somewhat OK area.
