does anybody know what type of effect stone is using to get that great sound on you are?

    thats played thru a Korg ER-1 drum synth as far as I know. its not a guitar pedal as such. matt wrote it so its not a conventional "guitar" song.

    others may be able to confirm this.

    you're right. it's basically a drum machine that can take an audio input and chop it up according to the pattern you've programmed.
