File > Export > ASCII tab
In Power Tabs:
File > Export > ASCII file

I downloaded guitar pro 5.2 . What do I use to open it?

What file type is it?

I downloaded it as a torrent and it comes up as Guitar Pro 5.2 (including 52.552 gtp's).
when I say internet explorer to open it up it doesn't work

right click it and select properties to see what file type it is. Chances are it's a .rar or .iso file.
For .rar you need a program such as WinRar
For .iso you need a program such as Daemon Tools
If it's a totally different file type let me know...
