i have been playing the guitar for about 2 years now and i bought a handmade electro acoustic for 80 off a stall in singapore.

basically i love this guitar and never thought i'd need a new one cos it plays like one that cost 800 not 80.

but it broke........

anyway i want to buy an electro acoustic guitar for £1000 (about $1500)

does anyone have any good recommendations of best makes etc. i know very little about guitars in terms of makes etc.

cheers

  • See if there's a shop near you that sells Takamine guitars.

I'd like to add to this post by asking if Seagull is an interesting electric-acoustic brand - if so, mulac has another option - cause there's a guitarshop who has some and they're on sale cause he wants to quit dealing in acoustics. He says they're better than Simon & Patrick... which could just suck, not that I really know :D

buy a non-electric acoustic guitar of your choice.

then put an lr baggs active i-beam in it.

    then thank me.

Takamine makes a whole bunch of acoustic/ electric guitars so with Eq's built in, some without....thats what I have and I like mine.

    Amen, brother...

Don't get a system with a plastic preamp panel in the side of the guitar... Please, God, no...

    I'd get this little beauty:

    http://www.martinguitar.com/guitars/choosing/guitars.php?p=m&m=000-15

And put an LR Baggs system in it, and then get a good preamp/DI unit...

Then again, there is the Line 6:

For those who don't know, I've got a Variax electric modeler, and the handful of acoustic models on there blow other A/E guitars out of the water... I am a believer.

i recorded a takamine on friday night direct into my system and it sounded like ass. even after i bypassed it's onboard EQ and set my xciter as best i could. just terrible. nothign like what the baggs pickups put out.

acoustic guitars are not meant to have giant plastic chunks embedded in their sides. in fact, i don't even believe in body cutaways on acoustics.
