Anybody knows of a good book of exercises to learn acoustic guitar or lessons I could print from the net? I went to the bookstore and wasn't sure of what would be best for a beginner

I suggest you find some kind of chord chart and learn basic chords. That's the most fun to begin with.
can I find some on the net?

If you want to spend the $10, I'd say it's worth it... Hal Leonard books are the best out there in my opinion, and it'll give you a very good foundation to start off from... after this book you can pretty much learn on your own if you'd like...

The book that parchy suggested is really good, too. Definitely get that.
