    Here's the basic food chain:

    - Fender American Stratocaster (what Mike plays)

    - Fender Standard Stratocaster

    - Squier Stratocaster

There are lots of inbetweens, such as american deluxe, hard tail, etc etc. More specifically, Mike plays vintage American guitars (I believe his main one is a 1958 0r 59 sunburst American strat)

And of course he plays other guitars (Gibson Les Pauls, Gibson Firebird, Gibson Flying V)

Check out giventowail.com , it will answer all your questions.
    Riverside.. LA.. California. EV?

A lot of Squier guitars are very underrated--especially the Telecasters and Jagmaster II.

True, but don't forget the mexican made strats, those are way better then a squier, and they aren't as expensive as the american made.

The Fender Standard Strats are Mexican made. I'd put Japanese Fenders up there betweeen Standard and American Standard though. :o

If Mike comes out on stage with a Squier, you can bet that guitar will be toast when they are done with whatever song they are playing!

I suppose, but there are 3 American made strats, the Deluxe, Standard, and Highway 1. I assumed when he said standard strat he meant American standard, my bad.

The Squier factory has been putting out some decent stuff in the last few years, especially considering the price point. The biggest issue is that they need a little set-up work right outta the box, but that's about it. I would never be ashamed of playing a Squier.
