Blues Driver Vs. Tubescreamer

If you were to own both of these, does one do something better that the other couldn't?
I already have a blues driver, but was thinking of getting a tubescreamer also. Is this pointless?
It seems they have slightly different sounds

It all depends on what you're looking for. I would say you can get more of a cleaner, crisper sound overall out of the blues driver and a chunkier, grittier sound out of the TS9.

Even Mike McCaready has both on his board.

It depends.
Generally the lower gain ones I run first with the higher gain one second and so forth but there is no rule right or wrong just different sounds. I prefer TS to BD2 myself but depending on your settings and rig you just need to audition them.
Is the BD-2 a higher gain pedal?
yes, it's fair to say that the BD2 is higher gain almost fuzzy at the top of the gain range.
