tab- what does this mean?

What exactly do the notes in ()'s mean? I thought those meant you touch them but don't pick them but one is an open string so now I'm confused...thanks

    It's a ghost note. Kind of like an "optional" note. Usually the notes are heard, but don't necessarily have to be played for it to sound right

    Sorry, I don't know, But it looks like an optional note. If that is pink floyd, you would let all those notes ring, through.
