10's on the Les Paul 11's on the Acoustic.

9's are on the peavy at the moment but I've pretty much decided I have no use for 9's. the new strat will get at least 10's

10.5's.... a few years ago I went from 10's to 11's and didn't like the jump, so I ordered 10.5's (boomers) from musicians friend and I've been using them ever since. I keep telling myself that I'll get 11's next, but that hasn't happened.

Make sure you put another turn or so of tension in the truss rod to compensate.

When I started, I was on 9's. Then for about a year I was on 14's. I went with 12's and 13's for 2 or 3 years before settling on 11's.

I tried them for a while on my SG, but man were my fingers sore!

    Now I use 12's or 11's:D

MoNkEyNuts, If the heavier gauge bows the neck out a little, yes, you have to tighten the truss rod a little bit, and usually tighten the tremelo springs if you have one.

  • 9's on my standard-tuned electrics and 10's on my acoustic. I have one Strat tuned down a half step that I use 10's on. I also have one Strat in drop-D that I have a low E from a set of 10's.

you do this in order to compensate for the extra tension on your neck from the heavier strings.

i use ghs boomers - 10s on my electrics
i use elixer 11s on my acoustics
and i use fresh wound air on my air guitar.
