Ok, I always loved the Bob Marley model, this one should be freaking incredible. Yes, expensive, but awesome.
My Girlfriend said to me..."How many guitars do you need?" and I replied...."How many pairs of shoes do you need?" She got really quiet.

A regular Les Paul Junior cost $749.99.
I'm sorry, but getting a Charlie Christian pickup put in isn't worth the extra $4,249.01.

I know it wouldn't cost $3,000 to get someone to put a pickup and Tuno-O-Matic Bridge/Stop-Tailpiece in the guitar.
And Allison Lefcort prints usually sell between $300-$500 (she does mostly Disney Stuff).

  • you can't get a lp junior in that red now a days though.

i would definitely like to have that guitar, but for that price i can get that sweet '72 gibson 335 i have been wanting for the last year.

i believe that it would be nowhere near that price had it not had lennon's name attached to it.

yeah I know I know. I'm hoping that's list, and obviously Lollar would make both of those sound better too.

I'm not buying that one, but I'd like to have something similar for a reasonable price.

much like the new hendrix stuff I actually wouldn't want Lennon or Hendrix name attached to my stuff, I just like the look and sounds this guitar could get. No way I'd pay 5g's for it.

  • f the les paul... cant go wrong with a vintage american strat

That's kind of my thing. I'm really not big on signature guitars just because I will frequently be reminded of the artist instead of the guitar itself. Any signature guitar, to me, feels like it might as well have the artist's name engraved on it in huge letters like the SRV strat or something. I'd feel like i stole it from someone and can't really bond with it. Just my $0.02.

I wonder how many of these high priced signatures gibson actually moves.

I do a lot of window shopping, but I can't see myself ever plunking 5K on a LP JR, one of the reasons I never bought a Marley model either.

  • It's such a simple guitar, too!
I have a few slabs of recycled mahogany that are big enough to just cut the whole outline of that guitar out with a band saw, slap a fretboard on there and some hardware. Leslie West, eat your heart out!

Haha,, Or it'd be fun to take a belt sander to a beater Les Paul Studio and get all that maple off the top, back to the mahogany, put some hardware on and a Christian pickup (I'd call up Lindy Fralin for something similar) and a p-90.

I agree. I prefer strats, but why would I close all doors?!?!?!

I'm pretty sure Gibson doesn't make these to be played. 90% of the buyers are probably rich collectors who admire the artist and will either put the guitar on a wall or throw it in a vault with the rest of their collection.

Very true. I'd spend that $5000 on some lessons... and maybe a *little* gear

That CC pickup requires a HUGE route. Personally, I'd rather have one of the limited edition epi John Lennon Casino's. Infinitely cooler instrument, and about 50% less for the only Lennon guitar that mattered...at least in my book.
