So I think I might get this compressor.

instead of the keeley. I'm happy with my Direct Drive. This should be cool too.

My Girlfriend said to me..."How many guitars do you need?" and I replied...."How many pairs of shoes do you need?" She got really quiet.

looks good. i like the idea of the blend. i find the keeley useful only for solos and picking but this looks like it might be more useful allaround.

Aparently it seems to be more like a boost. which would make sense given Barbers other stuff what he likes. I like the Keeley but 220 is expensive. I think I can get what I want here and the green LED is cool. Plus I think the blend will help it be better on a les paul. I really like my wah under a little compression.

well yeah. Aparently its one of the best compressors ever. Keeley knows what he is doing. I love the squash on single coils. I can play really hard.

yeah, i tend to not like the squash. i got it for the sustain so that's usually at about 10-11 o'clock. the level depends on whether it's picking or an attempt at a solo. it's off the rest of the time.

that's me too mostly. I like it at 12 sometimes and ocassionally I run the sustain at 2 just for fun.

  • Sorry if I sound like a dumbass, but what does a compressor do exactly? What kind of sound does it give you?
Nobody else here, nobody like me.

it limits louder notes notes and raises quieter ones. gives the effect of really long sustain and can give this really clicky kind of clean sound too. hard to explain. great for controlled feeback too.

i must hold back my urge to buy a compressor (and an analog delay, and an overdrive, and a flanger, and a vox wah, and a volume pedal) until after i save up enough money to buy a good amp. i've really gotta stop looking at these posts when the subject line tells me it's about an effect i want.

don't feel bad I'm paying off my recorder right now. I just wrote a song in 20 minutes after I got home. I can't believe how good my amp sounds with a little external delay. Wow. Who knew I'd miss reverb. But I'll tell you this It worth it not muddying the tone of that amp. Maybe Fat Sound had the right idea ordering only NRs from Dr. Z.

Stone uses nothing but compressors for overdrive anymore...
...and if you don't like it, you can suck on an egg.
