This brings feeling it to a new level. 2000 watts.

My Girlfriend said to me..."How many guitars do you need?" and I replied...."How many pairs of shoes do you need?" She got really quiet.

pacoma,
did you happen to notice in the Riot Act recording .pdf that Jeff used a 30 WATT amp ... STRAIGHT THROUGH.
lol.
jeff felt it with a measely motherfucking 30 watts.
hail, hail to the chief!
If I opened it now would you not understand?
Was that the Ampeg Portaflex? The B-15?
What a legendary amp... the bass player's equivalent of the Fender Champ.
Big difference when you're playing to a live audience.. Obviously that's what this is for.
30 watts lets the engineer control the levels on the album while not killing the people in the studio.
Check out the wattage his stage rig is using into the 6 SWR 8x10 cabs. yeah. slightly more than 30. lol.
This is the first really nice new 8x10 cab I've seen in a while and you can crank the power to it, thus achieve power and clarity in the bottom end. Not that many rock bands that play electric guitars tour with a portabass. But yeah, that's a sweet amp too.
anyways ...
where are the stage diagrams hiding these days?
are they still on synergy somewhere?
i'd like to review stone's fx chain again,
maybe look at some of jeff's stuff.
i'm definately buying a '62 reissue p-bass ...
if for no other reason, simply because Kim Deal uses hers almost exclusively for the pixies, with the exception of a MM Stingray she picks up on some tracks ... but that is WAY out of my price range ...
i think ms. deal has the best bass sound ever.
If I opened it now would you not understand?
Probably the most current stuff is at http://www.giventowail.com
but I'm with you on Kim Deal. I love that tone. I liked it with the breeders too. You might check out the new medium priced stingrays ($650) or so. You can't go wrong with the fender basses though. I like that P-bass too.
nothing is lost.
i dunno who that poor sap was who said they saw them at Coachella and they sucked was ...
but the voicings and the instruments are FLAWLESS ...
its like it was '89 all over again,
except the recordings aren't analog shit.
If I opened it now would you not understand?
Jeff is using 4 - 6x10" SWR cabs.
With a selection of vintage Ampeg SVT amps and an Ashdown.
With a full PA, though, he could easily play through a Portaflex.
Here's Jeff's signal diagram from 1998...
