I don’t get this. So go to Target on Saturday instead of Friday.  Hopefully it does good though.

Voting current people out is what affects change.
Yeah, I honestly don't see this as having much of an impact. We'll see.
It all adds up. What are you doing to help?
I think the point he was making is what is the impact if everyone skips shopping on Friday, just to double their shopping on Thursday or Saturday. I think it’s a valid question. The sad thing is we as a country are too much of a consumer society to give up much for more than a day.
We are that, without a doubt.
I would add, as understandable as it is to have as much concern as we do, and focus as much as we so on social and political concerns, that also means we are not as focused on the affect our voracious appetites are having on the planet.
But I refuse to lose hope, and if enough people really care, and a general strike of greater magnitude happens, maybe we can help end fascism AND give the planet a bit of slack.
I believe that there will be lots more protests come warm weather just the fact that this weekend have seen multiple protests across America in a winter like this one is important

I actually liked being shutout of access to the site for 1day

How odd that two you were shut out.
That, or I wonder if I was so busy, I didn't post here and thought I did.  I honestly don't know.

i don't understand why the whole pj website was shut down yesterday. i can understand the shop shutting down, but the entire website?

the forum should have been up. seems stupid to me to stifle discussion at this critical time in our history, but what do i know?
    I experienced the same.

Homepage was shut down so the forum was inaccessible by linking through that. But you could access the forum directly through community.pearljam.com

Yeah, that's the thing. General strikes can totally work, but only if they last long enough for it to disrupt the economy and production and daily life, and if enough people participate. The USA is probably the last country that could pull that off.

we can't pull it off. americans are too comfortable. but we are stuck in a situation where we HAVE to work and can't risk losing our jobs and our health insurance, which makes most of us uncomfortable.

whomever set up this system rigged it so well that we can't even participate in the civil disobedience we were founded on.
