While recently digging through the crates, I stumbled upon this record and immediately recognized this melody. Now is it just me? Or is this pretty much the spot on melody of a Pearl Jam song? I don't want to say which song it is, only to see if anybody who chimes in here confirms exactly what I am hearing.

    It is not ringing a bell for me.

    I'm very familiar with the BVSC song, so maybe it is hard for me to connect it to a PJ song... Parting Ways?

    My first thought was that the higher-pitched guitar sounds sort of like the Given To Fly demo.

    There is definitely a PJ song here. I can’t quite put my finger on it. Whichever one it is definitely slower. The Devo record is faster.  I would like to see if I have a copy on Vinyl and slow it down

    Could be unintentional or just ok with musicians to change things up a bit. A respectful nod to the og? Or just theft? I know Zeppellin did it to good ol hard working Howling Wolf and eventually had to give him credit.

    All I knew about Devo was from what I remember as a kid watching MTV when it first came out, so didn't recognize this song at Ohana as anything other than an improvised intro song to Corduroy (until I saw the setlist).  I started watching the Netflix doc on Devo recently and wouldn't be surprised if Ed gets more inspiration from Devo than most people recognize.  Was glad to see them at Ohana in 2024 - 5y/o me never would have imagined it 40+ years ago.
