when did Crate start building amps with good quality parts?

I just saw some of the new club series, the 15 and 30 are configured Vox like (tubes horizontal on the inside to protect them from vibration) and the 15 had a celestion 80 watter not my thing but a good speaker. Then the 30 has stock a Tone Tubby 40/40 Hempcone. Wow. I didn't know they did that kind of thing.
My Girlfriend said to me..."How many guitars do you need?" and I replied...."How many pairs of shoes do you need?" She got really quiet.

Maybe they realized that most players smart enough to get tubes in their amps are also smart enough to call a manufacturer on cheap parts and shoddy workmanship. Plus Traynor is making a huge move on the US market lately and Peavey's Classic and Fender's Hot Rod amps are tough as shit to beat for quality vs. price. Pignose has a budget tube amp on the market, and it isn't even that bad, but people are scared of cheap tube amps... so the logical move is to make the amp worth some decent cash instead of cutting corners and low-balling the competition. It's almost too bad they're trying now... it's probably too late to get them on the radar screen.
...and if you don't like it, you can suck on an egg.

These things are solid, I mean touring quality, probably built 3 times as solid as a Blues JR or a Classic 30. I saw a guy gigging with a 15 the other night and he usually has a Blues Jr so I thought I'd check it out. Very nice for sub 500. Probably same class as Traynor.

i wonder what my ears now would think of that 50W vintage club i had back in 97-98.

i thought it sounded pretty good at the time but of course i also had a fabtone then too.

but considering i went from a fender jam to a 50 watt tube amp, it was nice at the time.
  • Yeah I saw that, i was shocked

actually, before they came out...you could actually get an amazing Crate through their "custom built" stuff....i saw one that this guy had on a guitar video (if i get his name ill let you know) they look exactly like the Marshall 1960s Combo
