Today is the 30 year anniversary of Mike Mccready's greatest solo jam of all time.
7/9/1995
Milwaukee Night 2
The combo performance of Little Wing (Hendrix) and Magot Brain (P Funk) is hands down the greatest singular performance of Mike's life.
Here's why:
Chad Smith of the Chillipeppers sits in on Jack's drum kit for the jam. Eddie only sings for the first 2 minutes (but his performance is great). The band then gives way to Mike who proceeds to melt 30,000 faces for the next 7:30. The jam is full of highs and lows, quite intensity following thrashing power that teases and intrigues throughout. It's a roller coaster that you hope never ends. Mike performs with his eyes closed as he channels fellow gods, Hendrix and Eddie Hazel.
I don't really have the vocabulary to describe what happens, other than to say the performance is raw, transcendent, deeply emotional unscripted and unencumbered. That is still an understatement.
It's not even possible to find another similar performance in the 30 years since (go ahead, and try).
While they have played Little Wing seldomly since then, Magot Brain has never again been attempted. You can't top perfection. Here's to 30 years. THANK YOU, MIKE!
I can't post the video link here, so please search for

Thank you. Absolutely incredible. His skill is just ridiculous, obviously on those intense highs, but when he starts playing back off Stone at 6.30 too, wow.0

Awesome solo, one of his best, definitely look for a video clip. I know somewhere there is a download running around. Also the other Milwaukee show is legendary for their version of forever in blue jeans by Neil Diamond. They have been talking about it of late because of the appearance of Thunder and Lightning singing with the band. The video Ed has been promoting must be a blast, they were a hoot. That show was my first fanclub show, 5th row Stone's side. When ⛈️ came out and started yelling we all looked at each other wondering what the hell was going on....the band kicked in and it was amazing. Ed was so into it he kept singing after everyone stopped playing. Imagine someone singing in the shower when someone walks in. 2 magical nights, wish I picked MIkes Solo night, but the other was pretty amazingPost edited by hrd2imgn on0
