It's certainly spot on to point out the hypocrisy of mostly MAGA policies but also some traditional policies of the GOP in regards to pretending to want individual freedom and then regulating people's personal lives.

the problem with the supporters of Taxdani is if his budget implodes, NY will need to go taxpayers outside the city to make up the difference, as they usually do. Taxation without represent. Or their backwards magic tax trick, cutting services to those outside he city to pay for the city increases in handouts.

Good thing Jose claims he is staying, he can pay for it unless he does the 182 day domicile trick, and many New Yorkers will start doing next year.

Any tax increases outside of Mamdani The Bus Driver’s control have to be passed by the NY State legislature and approved and signed off on by the governor, which in fact, if such a tax bill were passed and signed into law by the governor, is “represent.” Still not understanding NYC politics, eh?

the point is, when these programs cost more, as they almost always do, and when tax increases raise less than estimated, which they usually do, the city relies on the state to fund these programs.

we don’t get to vote for or against Zohan, and he could be causing massive deficits. Once it’s gets to the folks I did vote for, the DEFICITS, for which I nor anyone in my municipality received benefit from, needs to be funded. They can’t be deferred like the feds do.

of course I’m not making this up. It happened in our past decades ago. Of course you have no idea of our history yet have some sort of bizarre opinions about our local politics. Maybe read up on Hugh Carey and Gerald Ford bailing out NYC. 

Edit, and there were no state legislature elections this year. So as of now, nobody outside nyc voted for this.

There will be legislative elections in November of 2026 and your “taxation without represent” can either be addressed as a campaign issue for the upcoming elections or in the new assembly seated in January 2027. So no, there is no “taxation without represent”. Further, to your point about deficits, do you think The Bus Driver is going to implement his agenda without funding and just run up deficits? Which pipe are you smoking?

You had to go all the way back to the Ford fall down go boom administration to somehow illustrate your lame argument. Then, perhaps you know that Cuomo/Dinkins, both George Pataki and Michael Bloomberg, repubs, and Governor Paterson raised city or state income taxes to support NYC between 1991 and 2009. Despite this taxation history, NYC is still there. WOW, all the way back to 1974/75! Thanks for the history lesson!
