First show was Missoula 2012, I felt the same way. Next level experience, had never seen a crowd so in unison. I remember Fortunate Son as 🔥 and so many great moments like the sit down encore it felt like I was in some sort of moment in time. An instant classic as the band labeled it.

I actually like the Camden set slightly better , that opening 4 was insane then into animal… but Philly 1 was slightly better because like most said, the audience was perfectly in tune with the band that night.

Philly 1 might have an advantage with the show being indoors and probably more conducive to letting the crowd be heard.

No one has mentioned the Philly 1 double rainbow effect. IDK what was happening in the building that night but it was special. I was GA for Indy and N2, caught a Rambo in Indy, had side stage back seats for Philly 1, it’s easily the best of my run personally which goes to show sometimes seats/location ain’t everything. Very rare to walk out of show outside of Tenadelphia knowing it was an instant classic but that’s how Philly 1 felt immediately.

I was at Philly 1 and it was truly awesome.  The crowd was absolutely electric and the band and crowd fed off each other.  It was one of those shows where "You just had to be there".  I do agree that if you put that show at Citizens Bank Park, it would feel completely different.  I'm not trying to spark a debate amongst awesome PJ cities, but if you put the 2024 Fenway shows at TD Garden, we'd be speaking about the Boston shows in the same way.  The band is built for an arena.
All that being said, I was at the 2022 MSG show on 9/11 and that crowd was easily as loud as Philly 1.

Man... I keep forgetting about that... it really was something else. The 2nd rainbow had pretty much faded by the time I got this shot.

19 shows for me and Philly 1 is right at the top. Amazing energy in the room that night.

Msg 9/11 crowd was louder imo with a weaker setlist. The anticipation for that show was insane and you could feel it starting 15-20 min before they even the stage.

I was at that MSG show, too, and it was great! It's up there on the crowd energy list, but for me Philly 1 last year (and Fenway 2 last year) top it. Personal preference and all that.

What a show for your 1st show! I’ve been to 40 shows total now, and this is at the very top. It was the single best live music experience I’ve ever had. I may have seen a few other shows over the years that arguably may be considered slightly better overall (Spectrum N3 ‘09, MSG N2 ‘10, Hartford ‘13, and Fenway N2 ‘16), but in terms of my overall experience, this was the best. For me, it was a combination of the overall environment before and during the show (remember the double rainbow that preceded the show?), the setlist, the energy of the band, the energy of the crowd, and, most importantly, the people right around me (over time I’ve found that the latter is the most important factor in my enjoyment of live shows). I was on the rail, and it was the best, most energetic rail I’ve ever been a part of.

Having said that, every single one of my 40 shows has been an incredible, religious experience for me. They were each amazing and unique, each in their own way. What a way for you to start your journey. Enjoy the ride!

I was at both shows & I have to agree Philly Night 1 was something else. The energy, the crowd, the set list ... it was incredible!

If the band decided which Dark Matter show they would love to officially release to the fans on Blu-ray, it would have to be Philly Night 1.

Been to 38 shows, 8 during the Dark Matter tour, Philly 1 was probably the best this tour and up there overall.  Pitt 1 also felt special.  2016 every show I saw (7 total) felt special.

My cousins went to the Ten show in 2016 without me. I missed the Rome show in 2018, and I was in Rome that night. Those are my biggest regrets...

I didn't see them until I was 32. So so many regrets.

    Anyway here we are.

For the DM Tour the Vegas 1 and Phila 1 shows were my tops. Both with that incredible energy, everyone in every seat standing and singing.

Philly-1 & Vegas-1 are probably my Fav shows too. Especially Philly-1.
  • Philly 1 was my 23rd time seeing them (now at 26) and the first time I travelled to a city known for bringing out something special in the band and boy, it didn’t disappoint. As a central Virginia resident without a trust fund, my show options over the years have been limited but it’s awesome to see that this show ranks high among those that have been to other shows a lot of us can only dream about.

I think for me Charlottesville 2013 still narrowly beats it out due to everything being perfect for me at that show (city, weather, pit tickets, deep cut setlist, etc) but Philly 1 made the effort to get there more than worth it!
