This portrait of the California Brown Pelican was originally created for PEARL JAM's headline slot at Ohana Festival in California. The artwork celebrates the Pelican's triumphant return from the brink of extinction, after battling with environmental poisoning that compromised their ability to breed. As such, we see this beautiful bird nesting in coastal Californian flora, with a clutch of strong healthy eggs! For me, the Pelican is a symbol of resilience and this piece represents a hope that it’s not too late to turn things around.
