Well, I got lost in NYC for starters! I flew into the city (LaGuardia, I believe), and my cousin was graduating from West Point the next day. My cousin's family had a hotel closer to West Point so the hotel was in New Jersey. I arranged to get on a bus at the airport that was supposed to take me to a train station - I can't remember which one, maybe Penn Station (?), but all of a sudden, the bus pulls over and the driver orders everyone off the bus. He told us, another bus should be arriving soon, and it will take us the rest of the way. So, everyone filed off the bus, and within minutes the store owner of the place we were all standing in front of, comes out and yells at us saying we can't wait in front of his store, and that we had to wait across the street. So, a little confused, we all cross the street. Well, the second bus never showed (big surprise). People began wandering off, and somehow, I attached myself to a man from a small county in Africa (who didn't speak the best English). He told me he was going to walk to the Port Authority, and that I could probably catch a bus to New Jersey from there.Loujoe said:What else did you do there?^
So, we walked the streets of NYC -- I had my first NYC hot dog and I saw Times Square! When we finally reached Port Authority, intuition or something told me not to go inside and get on a bus. I decided to get a cab instead, and get it to take me to the train station. It was literally right around the corner! I made it to the hotel in New Jersey with just enough time to put my stuff down, get my cousin, and hop back on the train to go back into the city. We picked up my 10C tickets -- which ended up being really low down on Mike's side, right behind the VIP/ family section. Insanely good seats.
The show ran so long, we had to run to get the last train -- which we later found out, did not go all the way to the stop by our hotel. Two girls (who also attended the PJ show) overhead us talking, and offered to drive us the rest of the way to our hotel.
The next morning (maybe 3-4 hours later), we were up super early for my cousin's graduation at West Point. President Obama was the keynote speaker. It was pretty awesome.
After graduation, we drove back into NYC, got a hotel for the night, had some amazing Italian food in Little Italy, and then I had to leave to come home the next day.
Incredible trip. One of these days, I'll make it back for another PJ show.www.RLMcDaniel.com

Awesome! Glad you survived. I live close to NY and haven't been there in a while. If a bus dumped me off somewhere I'd be lost too. Glad you kept your cool. Sounds like a fun adventure.0

With GPS, nowadays, this probably wouldn't even happen.Loujoe said:Awesome! Glad you survived. I live close to NY and haven't been there in a while. If a bus dumped me off somewhere I'd be lost too. Glad you kept your cool. Sounds like a fun adventure.www.RLMcDaniel.com

But I have zero sense of direction and luckily I have a few buddies that work up there and handle all the directions and train schedules. I can get to Yankee Stadium and back on my own even without GPS, but anything in Manhattan leaves me clueless.

This show rules and it’s still probably the third best show they’ve played there. Man do they throw down there."What can you expect when you're on top? You know? It's like Napoleon. When he was the king, you know, people were just constantly trying to conquer him, you know, in the Roman Empire. So, it's history repeating itself all over again."0

I remember being there and literally texting a friend who was also there, "this is the best PJ show I've ever seen". Something was special about the room that night. Corduroy opener certainly helped kick things off. Also it being a Friday night!Meadowlands, MSG 1, MSG 2 - '98

THIS guy gets it. “Why the fuck is everyone out skinning cats”. Called slow Lukin right then! Might have been super super high. Over 150 PJ shows. Over 150 DMB shows and THIS weekend was number 1 ALLTIME. Maybe I trade it for closing if the Spectrum in Philly over Halloween weekend, swing and a miss. Didn’t go for some reason. But this weekend was EPIC. The boys made it the BEST. Slept in a bathtub in a suite that we got upgraded to, because you know. Their fault for losing our reservation that I canceled.Long story. Dalia lama was in NYC that weekend. Puerto Rico parade weekend. Had the BeST lobster roll in the history of ever on the streets. Told a taxi driver I wanted my change from 39.90$ (40$) as he was making up some shit about not being able to stop at to locations at 3:30 am in the morning. Then magically was okay but passed and wanted my ten cents. Almost got killed by the taxi driver who chased us for 6 miles.seanwon said:Skinning cats....Kids. Music is EPIC. It’s LIFE CHANGING Don’t get old. And chase yer favorite bands all over the World. I promise you’ll be glad you did.0
