I think that terminology must have been updated with the introduction of CD singles, that had 70 minutes on them.

I have two 3 inch (?) CD-singles. Cute. But even those fit more than two songs I presume :)

I've seen CDs that only contain two songs.  Seems rather odd to put 6 or 7 minutes on a format that can hold over 70 minutes!
At what point does it become an EP and not a single then

It doesn’t actually have anything to do with the number of songs, or the length of the record. Typically, an EP is not named after one of the featured songs, whereas a single has a lead title (the A-side). This would mean Merkinball is an EP, even though it only has 2 songs, whereas Dissident is a single, even though it has a lot more.

It got a lot more confusing with the advent of the CD single format, blurring the lines between single / EP / Maxi single / Mini LP etc

It's never too late to learn something new.  Thanks Goldrush!

I love the version of Smile on Olympic Platinum!  Mirrorball is the best though. Long Road and I Got Shit?!?  Come on with those two masterpieces

All good Brian. A couple of years of being a stock Buyer for HMV (and making sure we had stock of all of the Top 40 singles every week) taught me a few things  =)

It also explains why PJ’s The Last of Us is an EP, as opposed to a Future Days single.

I sort of miss the Christmas single except that they were getting a bit weak.  The earlier ones were mostly really good.

Yeah, Strangest Tribe/Driftin' will always be one of my favorites because they put some effort into it. Ed and Stone wrote two songs specifically for the Christmas single and the artwork is top notch.

I started out here a little late so missed out on some of the earlier singles.  One of these days I hope to find Strangest Tribe/Driftin' for a better price that what out there right now.  Very cool that you have that one!

Yes. And I miss the annual single. I’m still upset 10c did away with it. It was by far the coolest perk of being a member (other than a chance at 10c tickets)

True. I honestly think the cancelation of these happened when pot became legal. That is what I blame it on.
How awesome was it to have a mystery release every year. Some duds but always fun. F..k you maryjahwanna!

Really love the kinks cover 'Better Days' one.

Oh how I miss their annual Christmas single. Plus their Vault vinyl releases. Good times!

I never really understood why the Christmas single went away.  Maybe if the had called it "Holiday Season single"?  I'd be happy to pay a little more each year if they did it again.

They did call it the Holiday Single, especially when it came later and later (and after Christmas a lot of times).

Oh the things I forget these days, lol.
I'd love to see them put out an annual single no matter what they called it (but it was always cool when they came out around the holidays!  )

Funny to say that. As the years pass, the details that stick with my buddy, 'remember when we...(fill in the blank)' me: 'no'
I'm not 100% sure she's not messing with me!

Thread integrity..  My friend has most tucked away. I think the only missing is the rhino  angel, Olympic platinum and the save you she got me off ebay. Mine are within reach.

Thread is inspiring me to play them.

Turning mist is very great. Hawaii 78 Showcases ev's voice. Kind of haunting. I got two from 10c site when dumping extras. They were $0.00. Just paid shipping.
