Weird distortion problem with my Peavey Classic 50 4x10 combo

hey

When i have the lead channel on it seems to produce a lot more distortion on just the g string compared to the the other strings. I have two guitars (Jazzmaster and strat) and it does it with both of them. Ive tried them in different amps and they work fine so it must be the amp. Its been going on a while now and although it doesnt bother me that much Id like to know whats causing it.

Any ideas? It happens even if the pre-gain is on quite low,

Any response is appreciated

it might be the harmonics in the preamp tubes. I'd change them out and see if that helps.
My Girlfriend said to me..."How many guitars do you need?" and I replied...."How many pairs of shoes do you need?" She got really quiet.
  • What you need to do first is check to see if the cooling fan is still functioning.

It's probably just a tube gone wary, but check the fan. I had a friend who had a classic 100 fan go out and it then this problem started to happen, it spread to other harmonic frequencies and then his circuit board melted.
