“Hey Timmy, it is okay. When you get to El Salvador, call your attorney. Yes, you may sit in jail for a few years, but liberty is a slow gift that we must all receive. Cherish the process.

I step out of the way on the beach at Westport. What is written in the rules does not always equal what happens on the ground. Are you seriously trying to school me? I know more about the rules and judicial enforcement than you will ever know.
Whoa, look at you! Stepping out da way in Westport, yo! Am I supposed to be impressed with that? Do you pop the collar on your polo while doing so?
You seem to simply miss the point. And you are not talking to someone that is misinformed. Stupid is as stupid does. And well, you are doing it well. Say "yo" to an agent. Don't touch me bro. You might get the handcuffs.
Keep talking. You know nothing. Boots on the ground. It does not matter that you are a US citizen. You can be detained, questioned and cuffed. There is no probable cause required. Regardless of what it says on paper or "legislative authority." If an agent wants you held, you will be held. Truth is that most people have nothing to fear. Oh by the way, did I mention that I am an attorney with expertise in this area? Yeah, keep spewing your nonsense with no basis in fact. Stay away from the internet, it is full of bullshit.
I thought I knew what you meant at first about anyone being detained. That “probably cause” is subjective and law enforcement can follow anyone for about 39 seconds and come up with some probably cause.
But looks like that’s not what you meant?Police cannot detain and cuff you without reason. It’s false imprisonment, and police have been sued over that before.
If I’m on my way to work and an agent wants to hold me, without cause just because he wants to, and admits as such, I am confident I will be on the winning side of that lawsuit.0 -

Now, at the federal level with ICE in the current admin, yeah, I'm sure they violate rights all the time because the DOJ doesn't seem to believe in the rule of law or respecting the constitutional rights of anyone they interact with. It's a hopeless situation...0 -

Thank you for your service. As you probably know, cops protect themselves and others on the job. That does not always mean a clean stop. "don't tase me bro." Yeah just give me your ID and we have no problem.0 -

But the law is police can’t just detain you for no reason. It’s just the law.
I should have said they need “reasonable suspicion” instead of “probably cause.” Reasonable suspicion has a lower threshold.
At first I thought you meant they can detain you for no reason because you can always come up with “reasonable suspicion.” I would almost agree if that’s what you were saying.
When I was in my 20s I pulled out of a bowling alley with my buddy at about 10 or 11 at night. I was immediately pulled over and was told I made a very slow turn out of the parking lot that was suspicious of drunk driving. I had nothing to drink, so I did the field sobriety and passed.
I always believed the cop just knows a couple guys leaving a bowling alley at night almost always had something to drink, and you can make up just about anything that you can call “reasonable suspicion” and get a few DUIs in a night. If I refused the test, he would have detained me until they got a court order breath test or something, using that reasonable suspicion. How do I dispute that “reasonable suspicion” of making a too slow of right turn? It’s all subjective. In that sense, yeah they can stop just about anyone and quote something subjective ass their reason. But they need to at least fake a reason. They can’t openly do it for no reason at all.0 -
But they can. To your point it does not take much for an officer to find a reason. ICE has even more discretion despite what people say here. They are on the offensive under the current admin. Have your docs in order and you have nothing to fear. Be here for the wrong reasons and then do not be surprised if you are deported or jailed.0

Earlier you said they didn’t need any reason, they can hold anyone for no reason at all, which I disagreed with. Here you say if they suspect you broke an immigration law, which I agree with.0 -
Honestly, it makes it really hard to find people that broke the immigration law and not stop and ask people questions and make them provide ID. This has been my internal struggle as I am unsure what I am really ok with.
I know for some they have the data (lapsed visas, etc) but there are others that came in purely undetected. How on earth do you catch and deport those people?
Is sitting around at home depot everyday hoping for a guy in a truck to pick you up and pay you in cash "reasonable suspicion"?hippiemom = goodness0 -

On Monday, the Department of Defense announced that it had awarded a massive new contract to build the nation’s largest migrant detention camp on the Fort Bliss military base, a facility that will play a key role in the Trump administration’s deportation plans.
Unmentioned was that one of the subcontractors slated to work on the project, Disaster Management Group, is owned by Nathan Albers, who previously co-owned a company that pleaded guilty in 2019 to a scheme to hire undocumented workers and conceal them from immigration authorities. Albers is a big-time Republican donor who has spent time at Mar-a-Lago.
Two people with direct knowledge of the award and two familiar with the company told ProPublica that Disaster Management Group would help build the new facility, receiving a substantial chunk of the more than $1.2 billion the government has allocated for the project.
“The idea that you could use illegal labor and then sell services to ICE, the irony is thick,” said Scott Shuchart, a former official with the Department of Homeland Security and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement during President Donald Trump’s first term and later under President Joe Biden, referring to the immigration case involving TentLogix, the company Albers once co-owned.cont...._____________________________________SIGNATURE________________________________________________
