"Given To Fly" Tattoo Sleeve by Kahlil Rintye (Petaluma Tattoo, Petaluma, CA)

It’s been about a year since I finished getting this sleeve, done by the great Kahlil Rintye of Petaluma Tattoo. The art is based on the lyrics to “Given To Fly,” which we played at our son’s funeral when he passed in 2010. Took almost 30 hours across 13 or so sessions, and I absolutely love it.

And thank you again to @mfc2006 who helped get me the artwork for that other tattoo you can see on the my shoulder blade back in 2010 (it's the art from a 1998 tour shirt).

That's a really beautiful tribute to your son. I am so sorry for your loss. Even though it was 15 years ago, I am sure the pain never goes away.

The artwork is beautiful and what an honor for PJ to be the choice for your sons’s memorial tattoo. I’m terribly sorry for your loss. Incidentally, I grew up in Petaluma, it’s a pretty great place. 🫶🏻0
