hey all,
Im currently studying major scales and minor and major pentatonic scales... but struggle to see how they all connect... is any one of these more essential? and how will knowing these all fluently help my playing? at the moment Im doing OK but getting mixed up between the 3 types... how are each type used? any help is appreciated

my advice is to learn minor pentatonic first. This is what most of the music you listen to is probably based around. Its an easy form, just move it up and down the neck. However, getting a good knowledge of scales will greatly help you understand music, and what you "can play legally"

I kind of have a "punk rock attitude" towards the scales. I have a general understanding of them, but when it really comes down to it. I just play what sounds good and dont think to much about "theory" and whatnot.
If we all stop voting, will they all go away?
