New Tuners

My G string goes out of tune very often, like every second song. Does anyone have any advice on how to fix this? I had it serviced recently and the tech who fixed it said it might be a whole heap of problems besdies the machine heads. Is it hard to DIY and out new machine heads / tuners? ANyone recommend some good ones?
