Why no TV appearances as a band?

We have gone over 5 years without a band performance on a late night talk show or SNL. Why is that?

    I get the feeling Ed wants to. 
    They need to promote albums!! Plus I miss seeing an awesome live performance on tv

    I'm not sure what their reasons are but as a music fan I barely bother to watch these anymore. For most bands you can find so many well-shot live videos that a weirdly mixed late night performance just isn't worth the four minute investment. Just kind of a novelty at this point.

    (SNL can be an exception)
