Ed doing that song always reminds me of Toronto 2009. But if I'm being honest I think Sugar Mountain was better that night.

Don't know why, but I think Sugar Mountain would have been a more fun pick than Needle and the Damage Done even if the song obviously is majestic.

Pierce also spoke about his contribution, saying, “Time and time again, I’m reminded of the power of Neil Young’s songs. I’m reminded every time I spin one of his albums at home, when his songs play on the radio, and this was particularly evident when I recently had the honor of being the opening act for his solo tour. When I was presented with the privilege to be a part of ‘Heart of Gold – The Songs of Neil Young’ his impactful song ‘Southern Man’ came to me in a dream. The early morning session at Village Recorders, gallantly led by producers David Resnik and Niko Bolas was an experience that I’ll never forget. I felt that the spirits of my ancestors visited us in the studio during the recording of this song, and I was in tears while singing it with the soulful congregation of stellar musicians in the room.”

The Bridge School is an organization founded by Pegi Young, Jim Forderer and speech and language pathologist, Dr. Marilyn Buzolic. Their mission is to ensure that individuals with severe speech and physical impairments achieve full participation in their communities through the use of augmentative & alternative means of communication (AAC) and assistive technology (AT) applications and through the development, implementation and dissemination of innovative life-long educational strategies. The Bridge School is an internationally recognized leader in the education of children who use augmentative and alternative communication and has developed unique programs and trained highly skilled professionals in the use of state of the art assistive technology.

Much like The Bridge School benefit concerts from 1986 through 2016, the album features some of the music industry's biggest stars. It is a mix of artists that cross many generations and genres, some of them are former collaborators of Neil Young, some who have performed at previous Bridge School Benefits, while others are newer artists that have been inspired by his music for a variety of reasons. All of them inspired by Young’s music to come together to support a cause he has held dear for nearly forty years.

Eddie sounds beautiful singing imagery of loss

Stick it in stick it in stuck it in all is lost
In this dive where you hide
    As if its all behind
    The chasing lie
    And the rush
    The pain
    Again
    And again
    Is it empty said he
    No one there to see
    The lust dirty and filthy
    Has anyone seen my panties
They were white - let's fuckn leave
I was swimming in the Great Barrier Reef
Animals were hiding behind the Coral
    Except for little Turtle
I could swear he's trying to talk to me

This is one of the quintessential Neil Young songs that tempts me to say, "That's one of those songs no one should try to cover."  Hearing this, I have to make an exception.  Well done, Ed.
