Double-checked on the Eruption mention...It was not Eruption. It had the tapping style but it was an improvised solo created by Mike. :)

Just got home. I’ll post a longer review tomorrow but that by far the best concert I’ve ever been to. Weather was hot at first, but just a beautiful night. Going again Monday, can’t wait.

My first time hearing Garden - took 29 years to hear Ten in full.  Also first time hearing In My Tree - Josh on drums/percussion together with Matt was fantastic.

  • Band were up for it. Thought after Why Go opening we were getting something really special but to no avail. Fairly Greatest Hits but not being in Aus in 10 years is gonna do that.

Crowd is subjective depending on where you were but I thought they were one of the worst I've experienced at a PJ show. A lot of people in Golden Circle who have queued for ages – maybe it was the heat – just uninterested, looking as if they didn't want to be there, almost forced as if they were there. Many people rather possessive of their position in Golden Circle. If you leave to get a glimpse of Eddie, expect your position to be compromised. Quite a few recording each song around me.

I don't know, maybe I'm complaining too much and I'm glad for the many Aussies who got to experience their first show in 10 or 15 years, or perhaps for the first time ever, but it felt quite stiff.

That occurred every show I've been to so far... there are alot of repeats to satisfy the local crowd who doesn't travel like alot of us do. I get that, tired of DTE and RITFW, but those aren't played for touring fans.
But... GARDEN, INSIDE JOB,  IN MY TREE, HAIL HAIL... those songs helped.

  • Completely different experience at the show last night (from the seats) compared to Gold Coast (golden circle), but still a special night. My wife's first show, a well balanced set and plenty of energy from the band. Looking forward to Monday night!

Great concert last night. Started off with e bang with 5 massive songs to get the crowd rocking. Hail hail was great, love that one live. Given to fly is wasted early imo.

Thought the new songs, while sounding good, put a bit of a lull in the crowd.

Garden was a nice surprise and in my tree was good. Think it's the first time I've seen not for you so that was a treat. Porch was great as always, long jam to finish off the first set.

Ed stuffed up the lyrics to just breathe at one point ('sh.....I've got nothing' and bailed out of the verse lol). Inside job was a surprise, big crowd, not sure many were into it. Probably not an encore song for mine.

The last 5 songs kicked ass and the crowd went off. Ed couldn't believe the reaction to alive. He genuinely seemed overwhelmed at the size of the crowd all night.

Didn't think we were going to get a cover until RITFW, would have liked another 1 or 2. SOLAT kicked ass as always.

Was a massive crowd and thought they were going to go off all night but as I said earlier, went into a bit of a lull I thought untill last few before the end of first set.

Going to Mondays show and in golden circle (was GA for this one) so looking forward to it (don't think it's a sell out so be interesting to see how the crowd goes).

Amazing night! Massive crowd! I’d prefer a smaller arena but when you get that many people all there enjoying a PJ show what’s not to love!

As already mentioned, it was pretty hot and after my sister and I arrived, people were already feeling the effects and medicos were attending to quite a few people already. One guy hurt his knee or ankle in front of us, quite innocently, and was wheeled away in a wheelchair just 15mins before the show. Hope he’s doing ok!?

Overall, I loved this show as it was my first time seeing them in 10years. We got some slightly rarer cuts like In MyTree, Garden, Hail Hail and Inside Job.

There was a great vibe all show!! It was a Saturday night, the band were pumped. They seemed amazed and appreciative at the support after so long. Ed expressed this a few times! The crowd pleasers had the crowd singing loud and proud. From the back of GC you could hear the crowd all around you singing and cheering.

The ending from Alive, Rocking and YL with the lights on was pretty special in my opinion! It capped off a great night.

Looking forward to Monday night. Will be a smaller crowd, no doubt, and it’s a Monday night. So we’ll see what transpires. Hopefully the setlist will be different overall, bar some repeats of Dark Matter songs and some of the classics.

    In Jeff’s words…Pure Stoke!

Couple of things as I process yesterday:

    - Strolled in at 5:45 for golden circle and ended up closer than expecting. Excellent view.

    - Traditional Corduroy (no call/response bridge)

    - First time all tour Ed didn't wear the 34 jersey?

    - Ed was genuinely blown away by the crowd. 50k easily.

    - Re: merch - walked out of the venue afterwards to one of eight merchants tents, it had all merch available apart from posters. So if you're just looking for a t-shirt and cap or whatever, do not line up for 4 hours.

    - Marvel was very organised.

I think I need to make sure I'm around some fellow 10c nerds for the next three shows. Last night was wonderful, but of course I'm always at odds with the folk near me who only wanna hear the usual hits. I was getting super hyped for In My Tree and Inside Job and everyone else was looking at me weird or using that moment to catch up on current events. Same thing happened when we got Red Mosquito in Christchurch in '09. Still though, I can't complain, especially when I'm going to three more.

I loved how much the band seemed to be enjoying it together. I saw them laughing a lot with each other at certain parts.

Anyone heading to the Forum tonight for Dropkick Murphys + Alkaline Trio? If not, I'll see y'all tomorrow (and Thursday and Saturday).

Epic set last, from the first note until the last was a great night.

Loved how everyone looked out for everyone and a special shout out and thanks  to the guys who help me get up from the floor.

It was nice to have a bunch of helpful security staff along with stadium staff as they put me somewhere I could sit and still enjoy the show and got the first aid people to come and check me out and make sure I was okay with my heat stroke.

Eddie is such a good performer. He sings and jumps around like a 30 year old. Not one bad song all night. It was so good. The stadium is quite big but, idk, it felt intimate at the same time. I’ve only seen them live once in my life but if they clicked like this every night then theyre just an amazing band.

It was weird but I guess not unexpected seeing everyone losing their shit for the old songs like Jeremy but not caring about the new ones at all. Tbh, I was really getting into the songs I never used to care for. My favourite of the night was Just Breathe. I never really liked that song until I saw it live last night.

Unfortunately I was sitting next an obese guy whose fat arse took up his seat and half of mine so I was basically stuck to him. I wish to god people in the seats stood up so I didn’t have to deal with that shit but everyone stayed seated. Oh well, at least I could see the stage.

I cant believe after all these years these guys just continue to deliver at the highest level.

Lining up all day was so hard, but surrounded by awesome people and listening to their stories. Pearl Jam fans amaze me. They really do look after each other.

Arrived at 9.06. About 100 people in front. That turned into what felt like  400 by the time show time hit, with people saving spots. People told they’d be moved away if they were lining up before 9. But people camped overnight and many other started lining up  from 6am. Cudos to them. I got to speak to a number and they were dedicated fans with great stories.

Shout out to marvel and the red frog crew. They were champions moving us into air con early and then the sun cream, water and red frogs were awesome. It stopped me from turning into a red frog.

    The show.

Well, Why Go kicked arse, but for my 8th show, it’s now opened 3 of them. So I was a little disappointed but they delivered.

Loved, in my tree and Garden was great too. Sadly, some young girl was unconscious and being pulled over our shoulders during it. I hope she is ok. It shook everyone up. That took away from the song. But the poor girl did not look in a good way.

All the hits were great and dark matter plays well live.

The ending was epic, DTE, better man, solat, Alive, RITFW and Ledbetter was just in party mode.

Eddie sounded brilliant and Mike, well Mike is fucking brilliant.

I’m looking forward to the two Sydney shows.

I didn’t think it could get much better than GC on Wednesday night but holy crap that was so good. The GC set list was a little better (just) but the Melbourne crowd was something else and you could tell the band was genuinely blown away. Ed was handing out tambourines like candy in RITFW. Can’t wait for what tonight will bring.
