The day after

The day after

even the weather was awful

grey and dreary

the sky was crying

oh, the clouds were fitting

I felt heartbroken on Wednesday morning

while Monday night there was so much hope in the air,

and Tuesday was a surprisingly bright day:

with sun shining, birds singing, leaves turning red, orange and yellow

by the evening, the mood was changing…

We began to get worried

quietly watching numbers come in

trying not to panic but...

It wasn’t going well!

trying to be brave

“let's have courage, we don't know yet"

Though by the time I went to bed I could see the writing on the wall

I’ve never cried over an election like this before

As a woman, it feels suddenly less safe

It feels like half the country doesn’t mind the evil and doesn't care that the winner abuses women
