  • did the footswitch come with it?
  • yes it comes with it standard. switch for OD and FX. the fucking OD is insane. its got two different OD FX... one classic rock sound and the second is fuckin crunchy. hehe. its interesting to use mixed with my Maxon pedal.

    Im pleased.
    damn cheap too.

damn marshalls just look beautiful. A picture of simplicity there. Halfstack with a Tubescreamer. Kick ass.
My Girlfriend said to me..."How many guitars do you need?" and I replied...."How many pairs of shoes do you need?" She got really quiet.
  • cool. I've been thinking about getting the mg100hdfx half-stack. I've also considered the randall rh100 but it seems like those are used more for metal.

The MG100s get used a lot for metal as well. It's more on the player and the style. You should check out the randall before buying the marshall.

  • Yeah i'm going to. I don't play much metal though. I play a little metallica, but mostly alternative, like nirvana, PJ, pumpkinds, etc. so i don't know if the randall rh100 can cover that style, because I've heard the distortion and it sounds pretty brutal.

Glad you like it, Low... just be careful not to piss off the neighbors or blow any lightbulbs!

(my friend actually blew three light bulbs when he first plugged in his Mesa Boogie bass amp)

Maybe you won't need to replace the head with an old all-tube unit?

How is the speaker cab? Is it stereo-capable, or just mono? What resistance (ohms)? Sounds nice and beefy, I assume... :D
...and if you don't like it, you can suck on an egg.
  • 120W 8 Ohm Imp.

I can kind of tell I could have better speakers. The amp head is great. It turns out it's better than I thought it was. and the Cab is the lesser of the two. But it still sounds nice.

    fuckin a!

You might not be in a hurry to do this... especially when you see the price... but I'd get four of either of these:

    Celestion Greenbacks ($99.99 apiece):
    http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/sid=031208224247150131025216496997/g=home/search/detail/base_pid/660250/

    Celestion Vintage 30s ($109.99 apiece):
    http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/sid=031208224247150131025216496997/g=guitar/search/detail/base_pid/660230/

Those two are the best 12" speakers for the Marshall sound. Period. That's $400-440 for replacement speakers... but it would cost at least $800 to get a Marshall cabinet with Greenbacks:

The other option is always eBay...

It's important to note that if you ever replace your speakers, replace them with speakers of the same resistance (ohmage). Your cab is wired in series-parallel, with 8-ohm speakers, for a total load of 8 ohms. They are 30-watt speakers, and 30x4=120 watts. If you get Vintage 30s, same wattage, but Greenbacks are 25-watt speakers, so your load will be 25x4=100 watts. It will still work fine with your amp, SO LONG AS THE RESISTANCE (aka impedance) IS CORRECT. The fastest way to blow an amp is to hook the amp to a speaker of the wrong impedance. White smoke! Poof! I've done it, trust me...

So, if you ever replace the speakers, make sure that they're 8-ohm speakers!

  • Yeah I was thinking about the Vintage C's. Thats what they put in the 1960A Cabs.

I will make sure they are the same Imp. thanks for the advice. It will be a while before I can get em but I will someday

yeah it also says the greenbacks are 25w and the Vintage 60w. and you can order either 16 or 8 ohm. greenbacks look pretty good..........

I have a question (sorry to steal some of your topic:) )

Can I put two of those greenback speakers in my combo amp? It's a 150W crate G-250. It has 12" celestions in it now.
When this just feels like spinning plates.

Yep, pretty easy. The most you'll have to do is de-solder, unscrew, re-screw, and re-solder. Crate used crimped ends, too, so you might not have to deal with solder. Just be sure to match the impedance of the speakers you're replacing. I'm guessing that you have two 16-ohm speakers in parallel, for a total load of 8-ohms. If that's the case, replace the speakers with 16-ohm Greenbacks. If you want or need more help with this, write again or PM me.

  • In the back of the amp it says 4 OHM.

You'd want to check the speakers themselves. I would guess they're 8-ohm speakers, but you want to be sure. There should be a resistance value printed, either labeled as "ohms" or with the Greek symbol Omega, which looks like an upside-down "U" or a downwards opening horseshoe.
