All I wanted was 4 new tires and a fucking oil change.

I shop around, get the best price with installation, give Just Tires a call, and OF COURSE the tires that are on sale and fit my Jeep are out of stock. Of course they are.
But the nice young lady says she will make a call and have 4 tires available for me within 6 hours. She will call me later that day. Of course I don't hear back from her dumbass for over 24 hours. But they have the tires and I tell her I will see her in an hour. When I walk in I very politely tell the young lady I DO NOT need an alignment, I DO NOT need a 29 point inspection, as a matter a fact all they have to do is replace the tires and I will be on my way. 45 minutes later the young lady is trying to sell me ball joints for $500 and a 3 year alignment plan for $279. I politely remind her I am NOT FUCKING INTERESTED, just the tires please. $645 later I leave. A mile down the road my LOW TIRE PRESSURE light comes on. OF COURSE!!

I drive a few miles down the street to get an oil change. The young man there sells me a $35 air filter along with my oil change. Then of course he tries to sell me $600 worth of batteries, trans fluid, power steering fluid, rear differential nonsense, and a few other things. I politely tell the young man, NO THANK YOU, just change my oil. $95 later I pull out of the bay. 15 seconds later MY FUCKING CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON!!!!

I went back and tried to remain nice, and I was nice, until the little fucking piece of shit told me he had nothing to do with the engine light turning on. Then I wasn't polite and charming.

I FUCKING HATE MECHANICS, CAR DEALERSHIPS, TIRE SHOPS, AND THE ASSHOLES WHO DO OIL CHANGES. I FUCKING HATE THEM ALL!

When I finally make it home I realize 2 of my tires don't even have valve caps on them. Really? FUCKING ASSHOLES!!!!!
Take me piece by piece.....

in that case, speedy old boy, find yourself a trusted mechanic. for stuff a little more challenging than an oil change, I’ve got a guy down the street who is honest as the day is long. I’ve recommended him to others and they’re all impressed.

too bad. “my guy” is awesome. recently, I gave him carte blanche to fix ANYTHING he thought my truck needed. the bill was about a third of what I thought it would be. first time I met him, my heater hadn’t worked for two winters. I told him “do whatever” (heater core, etc.). he added antifreeze and voila! he also topped off my power steering fluid and wouldn’t take a penny.

I’m also pretty high on discount tire.

Find a mechanic or take it to the Jeep dealership where they are responsible for all of that.

    But yes, they do suck.

2016 Jeep Patriot that i have NEVER had to put ONE PENNY into repairs. Other than oil changes, a battery, and tires, I've never had to fix, replace, or repair a single thing.

My next vehicle will probably be another Jeep

Never go to those chains, they are a ripoff.  As mentioned above find a local trusted mechanic.  Get a guy who owns his own shop and still does at least some of the work and you’re good.
  • @SPEEDY MCCREADY that sounds like an f***in nightmare.
  • Heck of a thread title. Well done sir.
    What he said.
  • There's a place down the road where you can just purchase tyres and they replace them, just the tyres.  An oil change gets done at the garage or dealership. They're straight forward things with a car.  Sounds like they've given you the royal f"""in runaround.  What a bloody nightmare.  My thoughts are with you Speedy.

think they are affiliated with discount/americas tire. been using discount tire for about 14 years now. air checks for free. free rotations. buy the replacement certificate.
no issues wirh any set I've bought.

do dealership for oil changes/maintenance.  bought lifetime extended warranty.  $100 deductable for all covered items. 9 yr old ram 1500.  buy the 2 for or 3 for oil change package helps reduce the cost.

no muss no fuss. they fuck up. its covered. by them. or it escalates to ram.......

love this truck. love no payment!!!!!!

So you buy your tires online, have them shipped to installer of your choice, then pay for installation?

I had a 2010 Jeep Patriot and didn't have that experience at all. I have never had to have as much work done on the front suspension on any vehicle that I have owned.
