Skin Yard Select is a limited-edition collection of 14 songs lovingly curated by co-founders, Daniel House and Jack Endino from their four studio albums that spanned the years 1985-1991, and one song from the limited-edition collection from 2001, Start at the Top.

Over the course of Skin Yard’s existence, there were 4 distinct drummers who appeared on their recordings: Matt Cameron (Soundgarden, Pearl Jam), Jason Finn (Presidents of the United States of America, Love Battery), Norman Scott (Gruntruck with Skin Yard singer, Ben McMillan) and Barrett Martin (Screaming Trees, Mad Season, Walking Papers). ALL FOUR Skin Yard drummers will be included between the 14 songs contained on Skin Yard Select.

The package consists of 7 individual 7" singles each in their own sleeve and enclosed in a custom hard-cover slipcase. ALL records will be pressed on colored vinyl in a limited edition of 1000 (800 on candy apple red and 200 on dayglo neon pink).

    Skin Yard - Daniel Høüse and Jack Endino have been working the past couple years on telling the comprehensive story of the band that was one of the forebearers of the grunge era.  Along with lead singer Ben McMillan and an all-star rotating lineup of drummers (Matt Cameron, Jason Finn, Norman Scott and Barrett Martin), Skin Yard released four proper albums between 1985 - 1992, and were also featured on the acclaimed Deep Six compilation.

    C/Z is releasing a cool 14-song limited-edition package of seven 45s that include unreleased and alternate versions of different songs from their entire run.  All songs were mixed and remastered by Endino and looks like they'll be pressed on colored vinyl.  For more information - http://skinyardselect.com

    In 1985, we (Skin Yard) began recording our debut record which would end up being catalog # CZ003. This was when Matt Cameron was our drummer - before Soundgarden and before Pearl Jam.
    In the creation of the #SkinYardSelect Ltd. Ed. box set, we found a song that was recorded, but somehow never made it to the record, and it's never been heard before - until now!
    It's the first song that will appear on the first side of the first single and has been premiered as an exclusive on Magnet. Click on the link below and check out "California" and the video that our friend Victor Krummenacher made for the song. I'm super psyched.

    Kind of want but I don't think I ever listen to any of my 7 inch boxsets, it is a terrible format for anyone who wants listens to the records.

    Was a great honor to host/moderate our #SkinYard event last night. This box set is gorgeous! Well done @czrecords ! Just look at what this band helped create! A music scene known far and wide, unparalleled…a music & culture revolution, one city, one region. Skin Yard contributed 2 tracks to the #DeepSix ‘86 comp (1st release #czrecords), Soundgarden, Green River, Melvins, Malfunkshun, U-Men too.

    For me personally, had to keep my focus. I realized I was talking w the guys that walked the moon. They took the steps, true pioneers! The very early daze of @easystreetrecords sold #SkinYard records…they were arty, gritty, fearless…a S.C.U.D. band (Subterranean Co-Op of Urban Dreams), they were Pike Place-Capitol Hill music heads…obsessed, tenacious, unpretentious…inviting and inclusive. No #SeattlleFreeze. They were music makers, dream makers, pure imagination. Jack would help produce friends bands…Green River, TAD, Nirvana, Soundgarden, Mudhoney, and so many more…and still. Daniel would release records on his C/Z label …Gits, Hammerbox, 7 Year Bitch, Presidents, Built to Spill…Skin Yard did the work! Eventually, by ‘91, full force world domination was among us. Jack was the in-house engineer for @subpop and the Skin Yard drummers started/joined other bands… @themattcameron w Soundgarden, Jason Finn w Love Battery, Presidents USA, Norman Scott w #Gruntruck, @barrettmartinofficial w #ScreamingTrees

    The late great Ben McMillan (RIP diabetes ‘08) had that Seattle/NW baritone down, natural, unpolished, anti-establishment. So when u think back on that #Streetwise era, that early G-scene, Ben was all knowing …he was our Bukowski, our Jim Morrison. He was initially a street artist/painter had a very popular booth in Pike Place. As we heard last night, at a house party in ‘85, Ben jumped up while Jack, Daniel, and Matt were playing instrumentals, he rattled off some vocal poetry…band formed that night.
