Hurricane Milton

Friends of mine purchased a 2nd home in Venice Florida about 3-4 months ago. I have a feeling today is not going to be a good day for them. They are up here in the Chicago suburbs right now. I have no idea when they will be able to go back down south to take a look at the damage.

Heartbreaking

    3 million homes without power.
I'm reading something about 100 tornadoes statewide.
My friends say they are 13 miles inland, so maybe they don't get 12 feet of water in the house. FUCK

Did you see the roof of Tropicana Field?

13 miles inland they should be safe from any storm surge flooding. Wind could be their issue.
Fingers crossed things aren't as bad as they could have been down there. Devastating couple of weeks down south.
    This weekend we rock Portland

Did you see the guy who literally strapped his house down? He used heavy duty shipping straps, the kind used to secure freight. I have never seen that before. In theory it looked fucking GENIUS. In theory.

My aunt lives in western NC and we're all very grateful that her condominium complex had no damages after Helene. She lost power and cell service for a long time, but that's minor inconveniences compared to some of the devastation you see up there.

I cannot imagine what Floridians are going through from Helene and Milton back-to-back like this. Prayers for anyone affected by it.

    That's wild.
Not sure how well it would work, but Dorothy could have used it in Kansas. Maybe the Wicked Witch of the East would have still been alive and her sister the Wicked Witch of the West wouldn't have gotten pissed off and released the flying monkeys.

Yeah, if he has it secured to cement, and not just the lawn, it could work, maybe. But I give the guy an A+ for effort.

    Anderson Cooper

I figured the guy has made a big enough name for himself, over the years, that he doesn't need to be standing in the rain, getting smacked by debris, telling me his shoes are wet.

    Maybe I'm wrong.

I have a friend that lives in New Port Richey. They had 3 ft of water in their house from Helene so they probably dodged a huge bullet with Milton hitting south of them.

He told me that if the hurricane hits north of you to expect water damage...if south of you then wind is the bigger issue.

He sent me some pictures showing about 4 ft of drywall cut out and all carpeting torn out, etc. Obviously he won't be replacing the carpet. Not sure who would have ever done that to begin with.

This is their retirement home but I have to wonder why you would want to chance dealing with this shit every few years.

They drove back to Indiana a few days ago but he's heading back down tomorrow to survey damage and continue to deal with current damage. There were piles of debris laying around from Helene that is likely all over the place now.

He was pretty happy with his dealings with FEMA. They pay for hotel rooms, etc.

So now that Milton wasn't nearly as damaging as it could have been...do the magats still believe that the Army caused it?

No, just goes to show you how Kamala and Brandon have so weakened the military that they can’t devastate an area with their weather control. Need to double their budget.

Expect the worse so when it doesn't happen its easier to deal with.  I do like that mode of operations.  Byproduct of that is the population thinks you are crying wolf next time and won't listen.
