alright, it's been a long time since i've posted in this end of the forum. i'm sorry for scorning you guys. anyway, i've come to the decision to keep one of my guitars tuned to dadgad 100% of the time. it's a great tuning, and it's really sparked my creative side. i've written quite a few riffs and licks in this tuning, and i've even cranked out a song or two.

now, the problem is that i know only two 'actual' songs in dadgad -- given to fly & kashmir. i wanna learn some more, but i'm having a hard time finding songs in that tuning, so i come to y'all for help. i know you're a dadgad fan, paco, so i'm lookin' your way.

  • I write all my songs in either DADGAD or CGDGAD and I've been playing almost exclusively in DADGAD since about 1990. If you want to hear the DADGAD tuning (with capo) put to good use, listen to Davy Graham, John Martyn or Pierre Bensusan.

    Try these sites:

Related, here's a page discussing John Martyn's tunings and chords:

My scottish origins have probably ingrained a sense of love for drone tones so I tend to love DADGAD very much.

You can pulloff dulcimer like stuff from square necks and some really cool slide and bar stuff as well.

I like it quite a bit myself.
My Girlfriend said to me..."How many guitars do you need?" and I replied...."How many pairs of shoes do you need?" She got really quiet.

i thought there was a second pj song in this tuning and couldn't remember it. after now searching "dadgad site:giventowail.com" i discovered i was wrong.

    Go is in DADGAD, uninnocent.

*edit* I should've said Stone's part on "Go" is in DADGAD. Mike and Jeff are in Drop D.

thanks, man. gtw says it's in open d though, but that's semantics really, since it's just a semitone lower on the g-string.

    No worries.

Also, from memory - I'm sure Nothing as it Seems is in DADGAD too...

I think Mike's part in Brain Of J. is in dadgad.

Edit: Guess I should have looked first, it's Open D. Almost the same tuning, just change the G to F#.
