The band will release a radio edit of Waiting For Stevie on Streaming on 27th September.

Most of the solo is cut and the song fades out during it.
I prefer the longer version tbh, but radio listeners might prefer a more condensed edit.

It never made sense to me as a single in the standard version. Maybe this will make it more radio-friendly, but it still has no chorus and has those slurry vocals.

I absolutely love Stevie but I'm not a fan of fade outs so killing the amazing solo at the end on the radio edit isn't doing it for me. Honestly, I felt since the release that Won't Tell or Got to Give would've made great singles. Great singalongs, guitars and no need to edit! These songs deserve the attention!!

Just listened to the radio edit. Very jarring to just fade out once the solo hits. Feels like the song has no natural end. I understand that radio won't play long songs but still.

I agree Won't Tell would've been a good last single. It's radio friendly and more catchy.

  • Admittedly I’m strongly biased towards Got to Give — but what I like about it is that it sounds very much like a song from The Who or ‘90s Paul Weller; to me, that’s the sound of a timeless rock song, which, to my old ears, is radio-friendly.

All those who seek to destroy the liberties of a democratic nation ought to know that war is the surest and shortest means to accomplish it.

They should have cut out one of the repetitive verses instead of the solo. (Maybe the last verse right before the solo) The solo and ending is the best part of the song!

"Waiting for Stevie" moves up from No. 27 to No. 23 in its fourth week on the Mainstream Rock Airplay chart and debuts at No. 45 on the Rock & Alternative Airplay chart. See https://community.pearljam.com/discussion/301063/dark-matter-and-its-tracks-on-the-charts/p1 for more.
