Too long ago. Hopefully it's back to normal for good.
"What can you expect when you're on top? You know? It's like Napoleon. When he was the king, you know, people were just constantly trying to conquer him, you know, in the Roman Empire. So, it's history repeating itself all over again."
It’s the ONLY way it should be played! The call and response thing they’ve been trying for years absolutely ruins the song for me. It eliminates the climax of the song. Sounds like they did it proper in Boston!

Pretty sure it was because they weren't planning on playing it originally. From the hand-written setlist it looks like it was a late addition - probably wanted to keep it short because of the curfew.
I don't mind the call-response (though I prefer the straight-through version), but I do find it funny that the majority of the crowd sings the bridge while Ed gets ready for the call-response.
"I'm a lucky man, to count on both hands the [shows I've done]. Some folks just have one, others they got none..."

Oh god this is awful, same during DTE too.
Yeah terrible during DTE too. But have hated the call and response in Corduroy for years now. It’s one of my favorite songs and one of the only ones I pretty much want to hear at every show but it completely changes the song in a terrible way.
The "vocal exercises scales" call/response is a drag, to me, every time. It totally dilutes the power of this great song. I hope this overwhelming response to the original will elicit a change back!
I think the version on Let's Play Two is still tight and interesting and a unique way to do it on one tour, like the heavier Garden in 2006, or the drum solo in Evenflow. But it kept getting extended out and out and out, it was long overdue for the original to come back.
I enjoy a good ol’ ISO intro but, even if one doesn’t, at least it doesn’t totally kill the momentum of one of their best songs - during its best part.
(Like many have already stated, the call and response is not for me. I haven’t bothered to listen to a post-2014 Corduroy bootleg performance for a very long time now.)
Agree - the YEAH YEAH stuff kind of sucks. It's supposed to be an angry song.

x1000. Corduroy is one of my all time favorite Pearl Jam songs, and I'd love to see the original version live. Because the bridge is the most powerful part, and to add in that crowd interaction part really dilutes the experience for me.
Maybe we can move that call/response part to a stand alone jam session, other song?
