I "borrowed" this thread idea from another site, but it's fun, so let's see what you've got.

(I used my Discogs catalog using "Artist A-Z", then "Artist Z-A" to make it easier).

My first five:

10,000 Maniacs
A Tribe Called Quest
Acid Mothers Temple and the Melting Paraiso U.F.O.
Adolescents
Adrian Belew

...and last five:

Witch
World Saxophone Quartet
Wu-Tang Clan
Wynton Marsalis
Zen Guerilla

I'm always at least a bit impressed when I see a list of artists that is broad in scope, even if not all the artist are my own favorites.  Excellent!

I have to check out Afghan Whigs.  I'm told they've done some great work.

I somehow managed to miss Aerosmith when I typed this, so I guess Alex Lloyd gets bumped. D’oh!

Which ones weren’t you familiar with?

A man freed from the finicky quirks of organization.  That's a freedom I have not known since I don't know when, LOL!  I'm kind of envious in a way.  I'm a slave to organizing stuff.

I have to be honest, I know nothing about A Singer of Songs and I’d completely forgotten I had any of their albums! It’s an acoustic, folky kinda deal.

Abandon Jalopy is Brad Smith from Blind Melon’s solo stuff.

Alex Lloyd is an Australian singer-songwriter that had a few hits a while ago.

Air are a French electronic / chill out duo.

you+me is a side project by Pink and Dallas Green (City and Colour)

You Am I are Australia’s greatest rock n’ roll band. This is a fact.

Zero 7 are an English trip hop duo.

Zwan is side project / ‘supergroup’ of sorts with Billy Corgan and other Smashing Pumpkins, A Perfect Circle, and Slint members.

The only one of these I listen to regularly is You Am I, and I’d recommend them to anyone who likes their rock with a bit of extra swagger.

ZZ Top, yeah!  It's a bit hard for me to wrap my head around that band continuing without Dusty Hill, but I think Hill would have wanted them to keep going, so cool.
