9/12 Baltimore request for brother and in honor of dad
I’m writing in hopes that you could play something in honor of my late dad at the Baltimore show on 9/12 with my brother, Bill, in attendance. I was planning to go to the show with him as we are huge fans and meeting there from his home in VA and mine in NJ—but sadly, our dad passed away in late August and I’m unable to take off work to attend. Bill will be there, celebrating his birthday (9/9).
Our dad (Bill Sr) suffered from a rare form of Muscular Dystrophy, slowly deteriorating his muscles over time where he had trouble walking up stairs, getting out of chairs, and eventually his ability to walk full stop. He had countless falls and embarrassing situations in his life but always stayed incredibly positive and shook off the pain. In his later years, he had multiple surgeries and was in and out of hospitals—yet he was always full of hope. He never let his condition define him.
Our dad was the glue that held our family together. He was the voice of reason, the confidante, the one who would find the silver lining, and he could always make you smile.
My brother lost his best friend. They spoke on the phone every day, often about sports but also about life and parenting and home projects and business advice. He was with him in his final days, holding his hand and narrating a preseason football game to keep the conversation going as dad was slipping away.
He taught us resilience and hope. And the importance of family. And love. He was a beautiful human and we were incredibly lucky to have him.
I’d just love to hear a shout out to my brother after a rough few months and in celebration of his birthday on Monday (the 9th). I think this show will be such an amazing time as he continues to process losing dad. I was lucky enough to go to MSG 1&2 (my 30th show) and it made an indescribable difference in working my way through life without dad.
Music heals.
Thank you!
