A belated anniversary request for Thursday!
The first picture Jamie ever saw of El was on OK Cupid: El smiling, wearing a Pearl Jam GA wristband from Portland 2013. He’s a 10C member, and saw PJ in Florida and Hawaii over the years, plus hundreds of other shows.
After meeting, we quickly bonded over our love of music, and in the nine years since then, we’ve seen over 400 concerts together including PJ in Texas, Philadelphia, and soon-to-be Baltimore for our pandemic make-up show!
9/9/24 was our five-year wedding anniversary, so of course we went to the Philly show. It felt full circle since we first saw them together at Wells Fargo in 2016, when they blew our little minds and played all of “Ten”.
Philly crowds always bring peak energy, which creates peak performances! And 9/9 delivered: Glen Hansard is now our favorite PJ opener to date, the crowd sang their hearts out, and everyone felt locked in and rocked out. We heard about the Saturday vibes, but no FOMO - Monday felt really special, and the band felt it, too.
El tried unsuccessfully to get an anniversary shout-out that night through social media. (Now we know to try and post here!) But in a way, that made Monday’s show even more magical.
We always chat before big shows about what we want to see. El wanted an anniversary “Wishlist” and Jamie wanted “Dance of the Clairvoyants” for a Gigaton fix - rare on this tour!
So, when they played those two back to back (with a Norwegian Wood tag!), in the midst of an amazing setlist of deep cuts and huge hits, it felt like an anniversary gift from the universe.
The icing on our anniversary cake would be a shout-out on Thursday. We’ll be there, and El will be wearing their sparkly jacket again… kinda like the one Eddie wore in Fort Worth while playing Wishlist in 2023. Can’t miss it! AND if the band feels like playing "Insignificance" after it was scratched on Monday, we would love that too!
Here’s to five years of making music together, and many more concerts with our music-loving fan families. See you Thursday, Baltimore!
