2003 MIM Fender 72 Deluxe Telecaster, with Lindy Fralin P-90's. Eddie Vedder wishes he had my guitar...
And if you could only hear it!
There's the Vibro Champ (Oct. 1965) and the Musicmaster Bass amp (1978) just for good measure... both have Weber VST speakers, an alnico 10" in the Vibro Champ and a California ceramic 12" (Mesa Boogie) in the Musicmaster. The Musicmaster is an absolutely amazing amplifier! The Weber speaker really gives it life and body... it's like a Mesa Boogie practice amp. And quite loud for only 12 tube watts. If anyone wants to get a good practice amp, I highly recommend the Musicmaster with a Weber California speaker!
Anyways, after three years, my guitar exists. I am downright giddy, I tell ya...

That's beautiful MIG. I wish I could hear it.
Well, I was just playing through both the Vibro Champ and the Musicmaster... you probably heard that down in Georgia...
My ears are still ringing.
Two things left to get: a good delay (Boss DD-6, or others?) and a Voodoo Lab Pedal Power 2.
Then I can put the checkbook away for a while...
and you could get a line6 DL4 for not much more than a DD6. and used, possibly less.
If it wasn't for the funky power supply, I'd be interested in the DigiTech (I have a DigiVerb, which sounds amazing). The DigiTech pedals don't use the typical Boss-type AC adapter plug, which makes it hard to plug into a Pedal Power 2.
Now, I would probably love a DL4 (I don't need loops or sound-on-sound, just good repeats) but it is a bit more and takes up too much real estate on my moderate-size pedalboard. For the same reason, I'm not really interested in a Boss DD-20 (which I would LOVE). The DD-6 is everything I need and nothing I don't, and it takes up a reasonable amount of space.
Just to clear up, the DL4 goes for $250 US and the DD-6 goes for $130-150 (Musician's Friend has a sale right now, too). And I'd rather get brand-new gear... no more crap; I want good, reliable gear from now on.
Dude.......the DD-6 rocks. I'd go with it. Can't beat the versatility for the price. I love mine.....not analog, but hey......not bad at all!
I am one of a VERY few people who prefer digital delay. Not just for reliability (which is HUGE), but actually for the sound quality, too.
also I'd like details on how you did the guitar. Getting the Pups in specifically.
i wish line6 made "mini" modellers. same models and everything but with 2 presents and a smaller case or something.
why not swap out the dearmonds for Lindy Fralins?
ditto. telesonic's are pretty unique guitars.
the telesonic is a bastard because the dearmonds are their own size. i'd have to route out the body for them to fit.
Mig would have had to do that too. It'd be the only Telesonic in the world made that way. Then again, If you wanted to go the fender route I believe they have several models with P-90's in them you could just swap them for the Fralins.
I'm personally sold myself. The more I listen, the more I really love Ed's guitar tone too. Man of the hour and Gimme Some Truth from Live at the Garden are two huge endorsements for the P-90 pick up tone.
did you catch the redsox GM playing an exact copy of Ed's guitar next to Peter Gammons and his beautiful Les Paul on Sportscenter this morning?
chances are that *was* ed's guitar. oh wait. which one?
I'd wager a very good chance. Especially since Ed's a Cubs fan and can empathize with the Red Sox.
I'm thinking Gammons LP is likely Late 50's model as well.
DigiTech has decided to use it's own AC jack on the pedal case, not the typical Boss-style 2.5 mm barrel. They use a barrel connector, and it's center-negative, but the pin is smaller than the Boss-style. I might just use the 9V adapter when I get my power supply, I don't think I can get anything else to work. It's just DigiTech's way of keeping the AC adapter market buttoned up for their pedals. I'd be less frustrated, but this damn pedal (sounds great, but still) sucks batteries dry in less than 4 hours.
As for the guitar...
I purchased the Tele, then went on eBay and got the Fralins. While I was poking around, I found a pickguard assembly (including pups, pots, jack and switch) from the new Squier Tele Deluxe II, which is like a 72 Deluxe but with Duncan-Designed P-90 pickups. I brought the parts in to my guitar tech (I pay to get this stuff done right) and he put them all together, although with some difficulty... the pickguard was a bit too small all the way around, and the pickups I got were soapbar, not dogear, so they had to be mounted to the body. But fortunately, everything came together with some poking and prodding... and it sounds absolutely killer! I wish someone was making retro-fit pickguards for this application... Warmoth can kiss my ass...
Anyways, I'm selling the old pups, the Duncan P-90's, and the volume and tone pots on eBay...

oh and you might try http://www.pickguards.com
I think you can send in a tracing.
I can't tell you how envious I am of that guitar.
Well, it would be really nice if someone could just swap out the DigiTech "We're different!" piece of crap and put in a Boss-style jack.
My next guitar will be a '72 Deluxe Tele, but with Gibson Classic 57's, so I'll need to get a custom pickguard made for that. Either WD or pickguards.com should be able to get that done for me.
You could always get the Squier Tele Deluxe II and put some Fralins in it... that's what I almost did, and it would've been cheaper.
You're happy with the percentage overwound/underwound that you went with on the fralins?

It sounds so frickin' cool, you can't even believe... it really pushes the preamp hard, gets overdrive pretty easily. If you want cleaner tones, I'd get less winds, like -15% on the neck and stock on the bridge. Or maybe even -5% on the bridge. But if you want super bite and some great overdrive, the winds I got (-10% neck, +5% bridge) are perfect!
Well, they'd be going into an SG one day. How original, I know. ; )

me jealous
Think that's good, my pedal board might be the icing on the cake. I'll have pictures when the last pedal arrives next week.
Okay, the dude I got this info from is totally smoking crack. I just plugged in my power supply with a Boss-type jack, and it works like a charm. So, the DigiVerb gets my wholehearted recommendation to anyone with a power supply.
