Has anyone been successful using Priceline for a hotel in NYC? If so, what area and how much? I've been trying with no luck so far.

    I booked here . . .

Holland Motor Lodge, called the place direct, 125 a night excluding taxes, still not bad for NYC (technically Jersey), but going to take the PATH (about two blocks away) to MSG each night.

That's where we're staying. We should pull in Monday evening.

I did. Was probably a little early in bidding (got the room over a month ago) and paid $201 per night (Mon-Wed) for the Four Points Sheraton Chelsea (3 star). Great hotel, I think is is about 5-6 blocks from MSG and the regualr room rates are $360+ per night. I'm not complaining about that one...

    Is that an easy walk?

Anyone else successful close to MSG?

It's right near the Holland Tunnel. Not a great area.

Dont get hung up an being close. You can book anwhere in Manhattan and will be able to get to MSG by subway, bus or taxi. The POD on 51st is on the inexpensive side and may still have rooms.

I've tried up to $170 for 3 and 4 star everywhere in manhattan (besides downtown) with no luck yet. Hoping for a deal so I haven't bid higher yet. Have the Pod Hotel reserved as a backup for $169.

This doesn't sound right. I think Hotel Penn is $199 or $189 a night. And I'm pretty sure it doesn't come up on priceline bidding (unless it's 1*). If you really paid this you got ripped off.

I agree that people shouldn't worry about being right next to MSG. It's easy to get to from anywhere in manhattan, and I think there's lots of better and more interesting areas to stay in.

    WOW! That is crazy!!!!!!!

I have always had luck with NY hotels on priceline!!

    Good Luck!!!!

The last time I did priceline I did downtown and got a suite hotel (maybe omni?) for 125 and it included an open bar for happy hour and a nice breakfast buffet.

    Open bar...ha...I was pregnant. :o
