I know we can never have enough tube amp posts, but....
what would be a good tube amp head for a rhythm guitar player. no lead at all. budget? less than 1000

depends on the music you play and your style.
Peavey Classic 30, Classic 50, Delta Blues, Delta Blues 210.
Fender Hod Rod Deluxe, Hot Rod DeVille, '59 Bassman, Pro Reverb, Deluxe Reverb.
Carvin Legacy.
Any of the Traynors.
I'm sure there's a Marshall, but I don't have any real recommendations.
What's an Orange AD-15 puttin' back right now, Paco?
A little more than a used Univalve I think. I bought mine new for $850+tax.
They go for around 750-800 or so on Ebay still.
I bet he could find an AD 30R on Ebay for less than a grand.
As far as Carvin goes the Bel Aire's are cool too, as well as the MTS.
Savage has the Rohr that for used goes less than a grand, and the DR Z Mazarati with cheap cab obviously....
and hey, Mig, there's always Sovtek and Yamaha T50's eh?
At under a grand, a used 1965 Fender Princeton Reverb would be perfect
new, A Fender 65 Deluxe Reverb RI would be spot on.
we could go on for days......
Reverend Kingsnake
No, the Mig's are shit. Nobody here should ever buy one.
{need to keep them all for myself}
Seriously, I was listing stuff you could get new, or recently used. And I was sticking with combo's, although a half-stack or head-and-small-cab would work, as well.
in my initial message, i said tube amp head.
what is your prefered sound? what do you hope to get out of the amp?
Dr. Z Rt. 66 - used
Marshall JCM 800
Soumetimes you can find a used Orange 30 watter for under 1000.

Indeed, here's a 1979 Custom 50. It's got 4 days left. If you get it under a grand it's a fantastic deal.

and then there's this, which is just amazing I've never seen another, though a 100 watt combo is way out of my need level I can't imagine how loud that thing is.
