I agree with the above two posts, they still play a few of the songs I would still really like to hear-Sometimes, Of The Girl and All Those Yesterdays. Those are just wishes, I quit chasing songs. This is the my only show of the tour and I get to bring my son with so that is enough for me.
I’m a simple man. This will be my 24th show and I’ve never gotten Oceans or Leash. If I could get either of those at either Philly 1 or Baltimore I will be over the moon.
Springsteen playing the following night at Oriole park. I think the biggest shot at something unique is a cameo.
I agree. However my money is on Eddie showing up at Bruce instead. Neither have anything going on for days surrounding both shows, so I hope I’m wrong and we get a special appearance at both shows!
Wilco recently did a deep cuts-only show for the first night of their Solid Sound Festival and I think PJ is overdue for something like this.
As the most “intimate” show of the tour and after not getting initially rescheduled with the other 2020 shows, I think this would be the perfect spot for a truly weird, out-there show.
If nothing else I’m hoping for Charlottesville 2013 vibes as that still stands as the greatest show out of the 22 times I’ve been able to see them.
I think a "deep cuts" show sounds good in theory, but I don't think it'd be as great as it sounds. Wrigley 1 was show #45 for me. I find myself enjoying the sing-alongs, the songs where everybody in the stadium/arena/etc. is into it. Sprinkling in a rarity is ok, but it's kind of a bummer if there are several songs in a row where over 50% of the crowd isn't really loving it. Not to mention, if the song isn't played that often there's a decent chance it's not going to be played that well, or the lyrics will get mangled. For the most part, bring me the hits that the crowd is really into!
I was at the No Code show in Moline. I love that album, one of my favorites. But my wife and I were with friends that were casual fans. When I realized what was happening with playing the full album, I found myself thinking, "Well, here come 13 songs in a row that they're not familiar with." To me, the crowd can really add to the experience. I especially don't get wanting a mediocre song like "Leatherman" or "Gods' Dice" just to check it off a list of songs you haven't seen.
If there was ever an "All Fan Club" show, then by all means... Wrigley 1, for me, was a terrific setlist. Several big hits/anthems and a couple rarities ("Down", "U"). Also love that they're playing a half dozen tunes off the new album.

Fair point. While I suppose promoting a show of that nature would be courteous to weed out the casuals, I guess the fact that they’ve never announced an album show in advance is why I think there’s a charm to it. My favorite show I’ve been to of theirs was Charlottesville 2013 and I have friends that went that were hoping for more “hits” while I was in seventh heaven lol
I find it hard to believe that “over 50% of the crowd” wouldn’t be into any song performed by these guys. I would expect that the majority of the crowd are diehards not fair weather fans? And @wnh1977 you’ve been to 45 shows and think God’s Dice is mediocre???

I do think it's very average and have not been excited to see it live... and it usually gets flubbed. An ok song, but probably easily in the bottom half of their catalog for me. Just an opinion, my friend.
This is a tour in support of Dark Matter, so I love that they're playing a half-dozen or so from the new album every show. My personal preference is that the rest are some verified hits/singles/well-known tunes sprinkled in with, I don't know, 4 to 5 rarities. Again, just an opinion.

(No I’m not delusional and realize they would not do this since the only album shows came during “between-album” tours.)
Would love to hear that live again.
Pretty pretty pretty damn great!!
