Boss BF-1 Flanger

My sister was cleaning up the attic and she found a Boss BF-1 Flanger, which used to belong to her ex-husband. She gave it to me. It doesn't have an adaptor anymore, but at the bottom of the pedal it says it has to be used with a Boss-adaptor. Is that a fact or doesn't it really matter which adaptor you use? And it's supposed to be better with a 12V than a 9V?

I don't know if the pedal still works or not, but any info - not too technical - on this pedal is welcome. It's my first ever pedal and I basically know jack shit about them, or any other pedal for that matter.

try it with both. apparently it does make a difference. i'm guessing it will be a lot clearer and defined with a 12VDC adapter.

Thanks Ex. I just tried it and it doesn't work, I'll open it up and give it a look and maybe drop it in at the guitarshop, where the manager owes me one.
