Vinyl cleaning question

Since I don't really know where else to put this one, I'll just post it on here.
Recently I got me a really cool, 30 years old Technics record player  I have a whole bunch of old vinyl records from my dad and other people. yesterday I bought me some cheap old jazz records, and one of them - Charlie Parkers earliest recordings! - has some sort of stains on them (thought the records still plays).
So does anyone here now an easy way of cleaning that? I've been looking around on the net and I've found a lot of different alcohol/water mixes etc, but those were on forums with loads of vinyl junkies. It also had stuff on it like 'the right needle pressure' and all (I have no idea if I have the right needle pressure).
Basically, I love putting some Django Reinhardt vinyl on, the cracking some give makes it even cooler, but I do want to treat my records well and I basically don't have the faintest clue on handling vinyl and record players well.
So, anyone know something?

wipe in circles, not straight from inside to out like a CD ... follow the grooves around.
depending on what those stains are, they may not come out.
but they aren't gonna affect the sound either, unless they are actually something coating the record and covering grooves, which i doubt.
but record cleaner is important for getting off dust and other shit stuck in the grooves.
the needle pressure thing, here is a quick link to check out:

basicaly, if you do have a manual record player, and your tonearm has a dial-a-weight type device in the back, you will want to set it correctly.
this process is kind've like tuning a guitar with a floating bridge, ie tedious and repetitive ... just read the link. it's not rocket science, just a pain in the ass.
If I opened it now would you not understand?
as for the needle pressure thing, this is what it looks like (lots of weights and stuff, no numbers)
