Matt Vaughan (Easy Street) Interview with Goldmine

I just got around to reading this very interesting interview. Full text is at https://www.goldminemag.com/interviews/matt-vaughan-of-easy-street-records-on-maintaining-a-record-store-rsd-pearl-jam-more.

But there was one particular answer that really moved me. It's almost hard to believe he gave this answer extemporaneously:

GM: How do you like the new Pearl Jam album? What’s your favorite track on the new album? Does it remind you of early Pearl Jam?

MV: We can all finally exhale. The people are smiling. This is a career defining record for Pearl Jam. Resilience, being present, owning your issues, working through ’em, accept your part, it’s OK to be scared, insecure…we all are, but we have each other, our friends, our family, our neighbors, let’s lift each other up, hand in hand. We can find utopia, its power of the mind, heart, soul. We may not always realize we are being looked after, that somebody is up there looking after us. You are and you are special even when you don’t feel it. Wrap your arms around yourself, your loved ones and even occasionally those that you disagree with. They might need it more than anyone else. We can beat the bastards, we can ignore the clowns, we can fight oppression, we will have fun in the fight, we will enjoy it, we will be reliable, accountable, less judgmental, find the good, we’re better together than apart.

I gather speed from you fucking with me.

    Very good interview.
Ran into him last month while he was having a time off and he was so nice, chat for a few minutes, shared anectdotes with me. His smile , like he is a really happy man.

And of course I did my shopping/tour to Easy Street during my visit to Seattle ✌🏻

    Cool man!

For night 2 we saw Matt at the show. His seats were a row down from us to the right.
Didn't get a chance to see him at Easy Street Records that Saturday.
