Question about Ed’s 34 shirt

I’m new to this forum. Can someone tell me if there is any significance to Ed’s 34 shirt?  Is it sports related?  Saw them for the first time in Las Vegas. It was a dream come true.

    It's Walter Payton's Chicago Bears jersey, not sure if there's significance beyond him growing up a Bears fan in Chicago

    Its the shirt he was wearing when he was with his uncle John before he passed away. He mentions this at the start of the 2014 Leeds show first encore. He also dedicated Long Road to him this year 10 years after his death in LA.

    This is a fact I was at Leeds and  Ed said he wore it visiting his uncle whilst he was dying and just before the tour he died so ed wears it I'm memory of his uncle.

    Yeah I think he wore this jersey when he last saw his uncle or something to that effect. I remember hearing about it on one of the bootlegs from like 10 years ago.
