Just felt like posting a pic of my two amps. Above is my Fender Deluxe 85 (transistor), a pretty fun and versatile amp. Below is my latest beauty and first ever tube amp - with wonderful and amazing tone, my Champ:

The Champ is almost certainly a '74 or '75... very nice...

How can you tell, just from that pic?

It's silver-face, no piping around the grillcloth, blue-silver grill cloth (not the orange-silver stuff) and a tail-less Fender logo.

  • thanks - as for the pm, cool to know.

nice amps. I like. I like. I need a blackface to compliment my Orange.
My Girlfriend said to me..."How many guitars do you need?" and I replied...."How many pairs of shoes do you need?" She got really quiet.

    how loud is the champ?

  • They're supposed to be 6 Watts and I think mine is. I play mostly with the volume knob at 5 which is loud enough and breaks it up a little already with a single coil neck pup. 7-8 is ideal for breaking it up, but a bit too loud for my neighbours. I have thin walls.

Unless I'm getting in a band and become famous anytime soon, the Champ is all the amp I'll ever need. Fits my style completely. If I wanna experiment with louder and different tones, the Deluxe 85 is good fun anyway.
